How to Make Your Own Strip Poker Game

How it works: The game displays a new picture with each hand.  At the beginning of the game the user sees pictures from a group where you are fully-clothed.  If the user wins $25 the game progresses to the next stage and he sees pictures from a group where an item of clothing has been removed (e.g. your top).  If the user wins another $25 he sees pictures from a group with another piece of clothing missing.  This continues through 4 stages.  If the user wins the last $25 (you have no clothes left) he sees a slideshow display of a group of pictures.

So, you'll need to make a set of pictures (using a digital camera, a scanner, webcam, whatever).  A picture set would have 5 groups of pictures: (1) a group where you are fully clothed, (2) a group where you have lost a piece of clothing, (3) a group where you have lost two clothing items, (4) a group with three items missing, and (5) a final group (the slideshow).  You can have as many pictures in each group as you like, add as many picture sets as you like.

Use the Setup program to add your picture sets to the game.  The Setup program lets you add a group of pictures in a single operation, so this only takes a few minutes.  You can add as many picture sets as you like, and can make as many games as you like.

Next you choose the appearance of your game. The game is 16M color capable; the Setup program provides a color picker for foreground and background colors, or you can enter the color numbers to match your existing site.  You also choose raised or line borders, and select a title.  Then use the Test feature to check your work.

When you are satisfied with your choices you are ready to package the game for home and/or web use.  The Setup program creates a self-installing executable that you can distribute to home users.  The Demo download is an example of this file, the home version of your game would install the same way.

If you are making a game for the web you have additional choices: stop level and stop page.  You can set the web game to stop at any level and optionally redirect the user to another web page.  If you operate a subscription website you can use this feature to offer a limited-play version in your 'free' area and redirect users to your subscription page.   You can create a limited version (for visitors to your site) and a fully-functional version (for subscribers) at the same time.  You can also set the web game to redirect to another page when the user wins the game, after the slideshow.

Your Own Strip Poker for the web is a Java applet - it works on any commercial web server (if you are Free-Hosted read this). The home version requires Windows 98 or later and Java 1.4.2 or later.

The Setup program also provides utilities for importing, exporting, and removing picture sets as a single file.  This makes it easy to trade picture sets with other users and add special sets for Halloween, Valentines Day, your Birthday, etc.
